About

Texas Soft Water Guide is an independent guide to Texas hard water and home water treatment. We collect plain-English, sourced answers for homeowners, renters and home buyers about water hardness, softeners and filtration.

How we research

• Hardness figures come from the water utility's own published reports, cited with the report year.
• We separate published facts from rules of thumb, and we label which is which.
• We do not invent test results or ratings. When we have not tested a product, we say so.

We are not plumbers or water treatment professionals. For installation, use a licensed Texas plumber. In Texas, water treatment work is licensed by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners.
